Off beaten track because this expedition will make you totally disconnected to the rest of the world. Makay is one of the last unexplored areas of Madagascar! Breathtaking and awesome spot! Hundreds of canyons and labyrinths, special vegetation, very rich and unique vegetation and wonderful scenery will be yours for some days. A real experience for a lifetime, life in the midst of nature!

Day 1: Arrival Antananarivo
Meet and assist upon arrival to the airport. Transfer to your hotel. Overnight at LES 03 METIS

Day 2: Antananarivo – Antsirabe 170km
After breakfast, briefing with the tour guide and drive to Antsirabe. A journey through highland landscape and its beautiful ricefields and traditional houses on display. Stopover in Ambatolampy to visit the aluminum cooking pot factory. Arrival in Antsirabe by the aftrenoon, city tour by car before check in at your hotel.
Overnight and dinner at LA RESIDENCE MADALIEF

Day 3: Antsirabe – Fianarantsoa 241 km
Breakfast. Visit of some workshop in town:
- a jeweler’s workshop
- Sweets workshop using traditional way of making sweets
- a horn workshop.
- City tour with rickshaw.
Drive to Fianarantsoa. Stopover in Ambositra, the centre of Madagascar’s woodcarving industry. Visit of some handcraft shops. Arrival in Fianarantsoa by late afternoon.
Overnight and dinner at TSARA GUEST HOUSE

Day 4: Fianarantsoa – Ranohira 297 Km
Breakfast. City tour including a visit to the famous photographer laboratory: Pierrot Men. Continuation to Ranohira, possibility of visiting vineyards on the way. Stopover in Ambalavao to visit the Antemoro paper mill: handmade papers which are decorated with dried petals.
Drive southward, visit of Ny Anja associative villagers’ reserve, 15 km far from Ambalavao. Home of many ring-tailed lemurs (the catta), this visit allows you to get close to these sympathetic lemurs. Crossing the vast plateau of Ihorombe before reaching the breathtaking Isalo massif.

Day 5: Ranohira - Beroroho – Beronono 220 Km
Early breakfast. Departure to the North of Isalo massif, until you reach the Mangoky river, 165 km of track, it takes around 6 hours for the trip ; Via the savanna strewed with small baobab. Crossing of the Mangoky river to join Beroroho, the administrative center of the region. This is the last civilized region before the wild.
Lunch and then continuation always to the North to join the small bush village of « Beronono », 65 km of track. Meeting with our porters and installation of camp riverside.
Overnight and dinner on camping.

Day 6: Beronono – Caves - Morafeno
Start of the trek in the massif of Makay, in total immersion for 4 days.
We follow a river to get closer to this massive so imposing. Long and narrow gorges where most vegetation are endemic to this region. Departure to the caves of Mahatiny to discover rock painting. Continuation towards the summit of this massif. Back in the late afternoon to our camp on river bed.
Full board accommodation on camping.

Day 7: Morafeno – Ambaninatelo - Nosilahy
Departure after breakfast to discover the Canyon of Ambinanitelo, continuation towards the summit to discover the crest and the plateau of this massif, view on the lake of Nosilahy.

Day 8: Nosilahy - Sariaka
Exploration of these canyons with strange shapes. We descend into the lush canyons of Nosilahy, we cross and follow a small river before reaching the plateau of sandstone.
View of the forest of Behetaheta and continuation towards the second canyon of Sakamanitra.
Full board accommodation on camping.

Day 9: Sariaka - Beronono
A walk by the lake. And then trek towards the summit to find a top unique and breathtaking view of Makay and its surroundings. An amazing view of the two lakes of Sariaka and Nosilahy. Then back to Beronono.

Day 10: Beronono – Ranohira
Breakfast and then back to Ranohira.
Overnight and dinner at ISALO RANCH.

Day 11: Ranohira –Tulear 243 Km - Anakao
Breakfast. Heading towards the coast, passing by the mushroom village of Ilakaka built by sapphire explorers. Vegetation changes down there: desert landscape with poor vegetation composed especially of spiny plants. On the way, you can see some of those beautiful and colorful Mahafaly tomb. Arrival in Tulear where you take the motorboat for transfer to Anakao.

Days 12 & 13: Anakao
Days free for leisure by the seaside.
Optional activities:
Snorkeling, diving in the pristine lagoon
Whales watching
Excursion by boat

Days 14: Anakao – Tulear - Antananarivo
Breakfast at hotel.
Then flight back to Antananarivo. Meet and assist upon arrival at the airport. Transfer to a hotel near the airport.

Day 15: Depart Antananarivo
Breakfast. City tour to explore the different spots that make Tana an exceptional town. Panoramic view at the upper town after visiting the Queen’s Palace and its vicinity.
Then drive to the handicrafts market at the “Digue” to buy some souvenirs. Transfer to the airport by the evening, flight to Europe.

A deposit of 30% from each Client is required when submitting the application form to confirm a booking.
The full amount due by the Client to the Company, shall be payable not less than 30 days prior to the date of departure/start of services.
