Wine Festival in Armenia

In the south-eastern region of Armenia, in Vayots Dzor, 1800m above sea level grows one of the world’s oldest sorts of grape -Areni. And when the grapes crack from sugar in the valleys, a century old garden’s harvest pierced into the heaven start to ripen little by little.

And here’s the Ararat valley, where the ancient grapes full of bright sun and Mt. Masiss (Mt. Ararat) again entered a sail, will revive the fantastic cognac and wine and will tell: “Drink me, for I am your ancestors’ earth’s blood, embrace me with your palms, for communicating with the heavenly world, which is called Armenia”.

Areni wine festival usually is being held on the first Saturday of October in the village of Areni. During the festival in Areni village more than 150 manufacturers of domestic wine producers of all Vayots Dzor region will present their wines, as well as more than 15 wineries of Armenia and Artsakh will be present there.

Special recreation areas, pavilions for fast food and cafes will be arranged for visitors. The program of the festival in Areni includes national dances, songs, dances, traditional games, theatrical performances, shows. Guests can taste wine, try local regional dishes and enjoy the joyful day.

Day 1: Arrival in Yerevan. Rest. Walking tour in the evening Yerevan.

Day 2: Breakfast in hotel. A trip to the village Areni, where the festival of wine will take place. On the way to the village Areni, visit the monastery of Khor Virap. Overnight in the village Areni.

Day 3: Breakfast in hotel. Visiting Tatev monastery, which was built in the IX century. The world’s longest ropeway (5.7 km) is here and it is in the Guinness Book of Records. A trip to Karahunj which is a prehistorical monument. Then we’ll go to the village Khndzoresk which main sightseeing is the“Gorge city”. Overnight in Halidzor village.

Day 4: Breakfast at hotel. Return to Yerevan. On the way back visit to the monastery of Noravank.

Day 5: Breakfast at hotel. Check-out of the hotel. Visiting Vernissage – souvenir, silver, paintings market. Transfer to the airport.
