Folly Beach is a city, located on historic Folly Island, in Charleston County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 2,117 at the 2000 census. As defined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, and used by the U.S. Census Bureau for statistical purposes only, Folly Beach is included within the Charleston-North Charleston-Summerville metropolitan area and the Charleston-North Charleston Urbanized Area. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 18.6 square miles (48 km2), of which, 12.3 square miles (32 km2) of it is land and 6.4 square miles (17 km2) of it (34.23%) is water.
The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission (CCPRC) operates numerous facilities within Charleston County.
