The Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is situated in the south eastern Terai region of Nepal. The nearest city to the reserve is Inaruwa. This reserve is said to be one of the best birding sites in the whole of Asia. It was set up in the year 1973. The entire reserve is spread over an area of 932 sq kms. Majority of the land here is untouched and suitable for wildlife. UNESCO has declared this reserve as a World heritage site in the year 1984. The main homes include grasslands, wetlands and riverine forests. Animals like wild buffaloes, fishing cat and Gangetic Dolphin can be seen here. Adventure sports like rafting, trekking, boat rides, safaris and camping are the main highlights of this reserve. The best time to visit this reserve is between October and May.
