The Altai Tavan Bogd National Park is a magnificent park with beautiful rivers and lakes, snow capped mountains and glacial valleys. The north of the park has the Khuiten peak which is Mongolia’s highest point. The park is spread over an area of 630000 hectares which houses about 35 glaciers including the Potanini Glacier. This park is a must visit destination for adventure lovers as various adventure sports and recreation activities are organized here. They include hiking and trekking, camel riding, canoeing, fishing, camping and horseback. The archaeologists are also attracted to this park because of its burial mounds and Turkic men stone. The flora and fauna of the park consists of some rare wildlife species and plants of medicinal value. This park is used by nomadic herds during summers to graze their animals and thus provide a glimpse of their traditional costumes, art and activities.
