Situated at an elevation of 13,500 feet, the lush Nathang Valley in Sikkim was home to several traditional yak herders who arrived from Tibet. The vast open panorama of the valley displays a few streams criss-crossing alongside prayer flags fluttering over the edges of mountains. Nathang Valley adopts different seasonal shades every year. Covered by flowers during rain, it is snow-white in winter & golden yellow when the grass dries up in autumn.
Home to a small Hindu temple, bridge & Buddhist monastery, Nathang Valley now also has a few new nicely built & well-equipped modern, basic yet comfortable homestays. Offering essential facilities like comfy-beds, room-heaters, attached bathrooms with hot-water, 24-hour electricity & an endless supply of blankets along with hot meals, Nathang Valley right in the middle of the traditional Silk Route circuit is an excellent scenic place to stay. Surrounded by Himalayan mountains of Bhutan, China & Tibet, Nathang Valley offers numerous trek routes for adventure seekers.
