Kailasagiri Park is located on a picturesque hill, which is truly an outstanding tourist spot in Visakhapatnam city. Situated at an altitude of 130 meters above mean sea level, this hill park faces the Bay of Bengal. The ranges are appropriately named Kailasagiri owing to the presence of the statue of the celestial couple of Siva and Parvathi. This high point also gives a panoramic view of the city and its beaches. There is a well-laid-out road for motorists and steps for pedestrians to get here. This entire area is illuminated and presents a fantastic sight when viewed in the night from any part of the city.
While all these qualities make the ambience most suitable for tourism, the presence of a huge idol makes this place worth visiting for devotees as well. Featuring manicured lawns and flower beds, a food court, a jungle trail, souvenir shop, telescopic viewpoint and much more, the other major attractions at Kailasagiri include the introduction of a Ropeway to the hill, an art gallery, and an air conditioned Conference Hall and a Capsule Lift to the highest view point at this site.
