The ancient city of Jericho, believed to be one of the oldest cities in the World is dotted with numerous attractions including archeological sites. Tel e-Sultan is one of the major tourist attractions in Jericho where the remains found at an archeological site are believed to be dating back to around 7000 years old. On this very site are the layers of 23 ancient civilizations that are considered to be some 9,000 years old.
Another important attraction in Jericho is the Spring of Elisha or Sultan’s spring which is the only source of water in the desert and is believed to have been sweetened by the Holy Prophet. Situated to the north of the spring is the Shalom Al Yisrael synagogue renowned for its intrinsic architecture, mosaic floor and delicate engravings of deer’s and lions on its walls.
