DAY 01 . Airport Arival / Negombo

Our representatives will meet you at the Airport and transfer you to the beach hotel around Negombo. Negombo is a well-known tourist attraction located very close to the airport (8 km). Wide sandy beaches and centuries-old traditional fishing industry make the Negombo an ideal place for beach lovers and sea food lovers. If you arrive at the hotel before dusk, you can have a little evening walk around the beach and visit a fishing village as well.

DAY 02 . Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage / Kandy City, Temple Of The Tooth Relic

After breakfast, leave to the Pinnawala elephant orphanage. This elephant orphanage is one of the major tourist attractions in Sri Lanka, located 13 km northeast of Kegalle town. The orphanage has the largest herd of captive elephants in the world and it is a captive breeding ground for wild elephants. Visitors get a chance to feed the baby elephants and to watch the elephant bathing in the river there. It is an interesting scene to watch.
From Pinnawala, proceed to Kandy.

En route visit a gem museum and a spice garden where you can find variety of spices and medicinal herbs. Kandy served as the capital of the last Sinhalese Kingdom. It is considered as the cultural capital of Sri Lanka. Temple of the Tooth Relic is in Kandy. It's also called the Dalada Maligawa. It is one of the most sacred places for Buddhists. Kandy is the second biggest city in the country and the city lies in the midst of the hills in the Kandyan plateau. Beautiful view of the Kandy Lake from the surrounding mountains make the city much attractive place for visitors.
In the evening, visit the Temple of The Tooth Relic and see traditional cultural dancing shows.

DAY 03 . Dambulla Cave Temple / Sigiriya Lion Rock

Stop at Dambulla to visit the cave temple and the Golden Buddha statue. Dambulla cave temple is the largest and best-preserved cave temple in Sri Lanka. The temple is composed of five caves and all these caves are filled with spectacular centuries-old paintings and statues. Golden temple is situated downhill from the cave temple and you will see the giant Golden Buddha statue and stupa there. Dambulla is considered as a UNESCO world heritage site.

Depart from Dambulla to climb the spectacular Sigiriya lion rock and visit the sky palace on the top of the rock. Sigiriya is another UNESCO world heritage site in Sri Lanka and also the most visited historic site in the country. Some believe it as an 8th wonder of the world, because of its unique architectural design, colourful frescoes and remarkable water gardens. According to the written historic records, King Kasyapa (477 – 495 CE) selected this site to build his fortress palace on the top of the 200m high rock and ruled the kingdom from here.

DAY 04 . Ancient City Of Polonnaruwa / Mahiyanganaya, Veddas People

After the collapse of Anuradhapura kingdom, ancient capital of Sri Lanka was shifted to Polonnaruwa and throughout centuries it remained there as a religious and commercial centre in the country. Buddhists temples and Buddha statues carved out from solid rock boulders and magnificent royal palaces are the main tourists attractions in Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa is considered as a UNESCO world heritage site and its well-preserved ruins still show the grandeur of the ancient city. After visiting important places in Polonnaruwa, continue the journey to Mahiyanganaya.

In Mahiyanganaya, visit the village called Damabana, a perfect place to observe Veddas. It's easy to identify the Veddas because of their unique appearance. You will see them with an axe hanging from their shoulders. Veddas are considered as indigenous people of Sri Lanka. Though their traditional life style is threatened by outside dominant cultures, still they have managed to preserve their cultural identity and the age-old life style. Nowadays, many of these, forest dwellers tend to do farming, but still some Veddas make their livelihood by hunting and gathering the fruit of the land. They are experts for collecting honey from beehives found on trees or rocks. You will be able to see the museum and the cultural dance show of the Veddas. In the evening, visit the Sorabora wewa reservoir.

DAY 05 . Arugam Bay / Surfing And Beach Stay

Early in the morning, depart to Arugam Bay after breakfast. Arugam Bay is the best surfing spot in Sri Lanka which provides you an amazing surfing experience. Thousands of surfing lovers are attracted to this wide sandy beach all year round. But April to October is considered to be the best time for surfing with 1.5m to 2.5m high fantastic waves. You can even enjoy diving and snorkelling in Arugam Bay. Water activities aren't the only attraction in Arugam Bay. You can take part in bird watching, wild life viewing and also exploring the historical places around the area too. Arugam Bay also conducts some international surfing competitions as well.
