Day 1: Nairobi, Wildebeest Eco Camp
Your first day in Kenya after your international flight will be a nice easy one, spent sight seeing in Nairobi visiting the David Sheldrick elephant orphanage in the morning, followed by lunch at the Karen Blixen Coffee Garden and then heading over to either the Karen Blixen Museum or the Giraffe Centre in the afternoon (or both), alternatively you could head over to the Nairobi National Park and take a safari walk. You’ll then head to camp for dinner and an evening relaxing.

Day 2 & 3: Amboseli, Sentrim tented camp
Depart Nairobi early morning for Amboseli (5 hours), a fantastic park that borders Tanzania, with great views of the imposing Mount Kilimanjaro and abundant wildlife including herds of elephants, big cats and bird life, it’s a park not to be missed! You'll arrive in time for lunch at the Sentrim tented camp, which is a good value standard camp with semi-permanent heavy canvas tents erected on a tiled concrete base. Each tent has a comfy bed, an en suite shower and toilet. Meals are buffet style and vegetarians are catered for. After lunch you'll leave camp and head into Amboseli National Park, just a ten-minute drive away. After your game drive you'll return to camp for dinner and an evening relaxing around the fireplace.

You can spend the next day exploring the park; either spend the whole day in the park with a picnic lunch or venture out for an early morning and late afternoon game drive and spend the rest of the time relaxing in camp, it’s up to you!

Day 4 & 5: Tsavo West, Serena Kilaguni
Wake up early to see the sunrise over the imposing Kilimanjaro, then after breakfast continue your safari onto Tsavo West, which is about a two hour drive. You’ll be staying at the stunning Serena Kilaguni Lodge situated inside the park where you’ll arrive in time for lunch at their restaurant, which has great views over the park. After lunch you'll be taken on a late afternoon game drive and a visit to the Mzima Springs where you may see hippos and Nile crocodiles and many different species of bird. You’ll then return to Kilaguni for dinner and spend your evening relaxing and watching the wildlife arrive at the watering hole overlooked by the lodge’s restaurant, lounge and bar. You can spend the next day taking game drives at your leisure, enjoying the lodges’ facilities or spend the whole day exploring the park with a picnic lunch.

Day 6 & 7: Taita Hills, Sarova Salt Lick Lodge
After breakfast you will depart Kilaguni and head for the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, an area full of wildlife. There are more than fifty species of large mammals and three hundred species of birds here, it’s not uncommon to spot two dozen species in a morning game drive, among them lions, cheetahs, large herds of elephant and buffalo! You’ll arrive in time for lunch at the Sarova Salt Lick game viewing lodge, where there is a water source which attracts a lot of wildlife, which can be viewed from the comfort of the lodge or from their very good ground-level hide. Later on you’ll be taken out by your driver for a game drive in this very scenic park before heading back to the lodge for dinner. Spend your second day here enjoying watching wildlife from the lodge and taking early morning and late afternoon game drives.

Day 8 & 9: Tsavo East, Epiya Chapeyu
After breakfast you will leave Sarova Salt Lick and head out on a game drive through the sanctuary before entering Tsavo East; a plateau of open grassland with giant baobab trees where you'll get a great feeling of being out in the wilderness.

You'll arrive in time for lunch at the Epiya Chapeyu camp situated on the Galana River, before taking an afternoon game drive and a visit to the Lugards Falls and Mudanda Rock. Epiya Chapeyu is a small family run camp that lies in the heart of Tsavo East; it has 20 en suite semi-permanent tents spread across a large area, all with views of the river and they also have great Italian food on offer! Spend the following day exploring the wilderness of Tsavo and we’ll include a visit to the Aruba dam, which is an attraction for many species of bird and mammals.

Daniel arranged a customized safari for my husband and friend. From the initial contact to the conclusion of the trip was amazing. The lodging, the places visited, the activities arranged and the transportation were all excellent. Tony who is the driver/guide was very attentive, interesting, knowledgeable and had a great personality. I researched this trip for almost a year and contacted many companies but just didn't feel comfortable for one reason or the other. I'm so glad I went with Transtrek. Daniel has the patience of Job because I drove him nuts with questions and he answered all of them and sometimes twice. I highly recommend Daniel and Tanstrek.

Daniel and his colleagues arranged a safari tour for me and my wife in November 2015, we found the company to offer a very personal service, paid a lot of attention to our requests and after about 30 emails and a Skype call we ended up with a customised tour that met all our requirements. The trip itself was great, they have their own vehicles and drivers in Kenya, vehicle was in good condition and had a lifting roof for game viewing and our guide was very knowledgeable and managed to find all the Big Five and many other animals for us to photograph.

The selection of lodges and camps was also really good, the best food we had was at a little camp in Tsavo called Epiya Chapeyu. People were friendly and service was pretty good everywhere, the only thing we would have changed was the drive to the Masai Mara which was very long and a bumpy ride but apart from that we would highly recommend Daniel and his colleagues at Transtrek Safaris, they really looked after us well.
