Day : 1
London - Beijing 12 Hours
Depart Heathrow at around 2025 on Air China’s non-stop flight to Beijing.

Day : 2
Beijing 3 nights
Arrive Beijing around 1310 and transfer to the 4-star Shangri-La Traders Hotel or similar. Afternoon visit to the vast Tiananmen Square and the quaint hutong quarter by Lake Houhai. Enjoy a welcome dinner. (D)

Day : 3
Morning visit to the Forbidden City, the complex of imperial palaces which were home to the Emperors for over 500 years. Grand halls and courtyards gradually give way to more intimate domestic quarters, giving a glimpse into the pampered isolation of the Emperors. Afternoon visit to the ornate Lama Temple and the serene Confucius Temple with its cypress trees and large stone tablets. (BL)

Day : 4
Visit the beautiful Summer Palace where the Emperors went to escape the heat of the city. Afternoon visit to the Ming- era Temple of Heaven where the Emperors performed annual sacrificial rituals for good harvests. Enjoy a Peking Duck dinner. (BLD)

Day : 5
Beijing - Xian 2 nights
Drive north to the less-crowded and more scenic part of the Great Wall at Mutianyu before flying to Xian and the 4-star Garden Hotel or similar. (BL

Day : 6
Visit the world-renowned Terracotta Army – 7000 individually crafted life-sized figures, complete with chariots and horses. Afternoon visit to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the Grand Mosque and Muslim quarter. Evening optional dinner and Tang- era music and dance performance. (BL)

Day : 7
Xian - Guilin 1 night
Visit the Ming City Wall and the Hanyanling Museum where the Han ‘Lady Warriors’ are displayed, before flying to Guilin. Transfer to the 4-star Park Hotel or similar. (BL)

Day : 8
Guilin - Yangshuo 2 nights
Take the magical Li River cruise to Yangshuo and drift gently through enchanting landscapes. Browse through Yangshuo’s colourful shops and visit scenic Gaotian township. After dinner there is an optional son et lumiere show performed on the river by a cast of 600. Stay at the Yangshuo Resort for 2 nights. (BLD)

Day : 9
Explore the countryside around Yangshuo, passing through villages to the Yulong River. Visit a farmer’s house and continue to Jiuxian village. Afternoon at leisure. (BL)

Day : 10
Guilin - Shanghai 2 nights
Return to Guilin and visit the world’s beloved Giant Pandas in Seven Star Park. Explore the Reed Flute Cave, then fly to Shanghai and transfer to the 4-star Equatorial Hotel or similar. (BL)

Day : 11
Visit the Yuyuan Garden, Huxing Teahouse and the old Chinese quarter with its colourful bazaar. A ‘dim sum’ lunch is taken at an exclusive restaurant. Admire bird's eye views from the Oriental Pearl Tower. After dinner an optional cruise on the Huangpu River to admire the beautifully illuminated Bund and Pudong District. (BLD)

Day : 12
Shanghai - Beijing 1 night
Visit the excellent Shanghai Museum. After lunch visit the quaint Xintiandi concession area. Fly to Beijing for a final night at the Langham Place Hotel. (BL)

Day : 13
Beijing - London 12 hours
Return to London Heathrow arriving later the same day. (B)
