Surfside Beach is a city in Brazoria County, Texas, United States that is situated on the Gulf of Mexico just west of Galveston Island. The city is part of the Greater Houston area. The population was 763 at the 2000 census. Its mayor is Larry Davison, owner of the local surf shop Breaker Sports. The city is the home of Congressman Ron Paul. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.2square miles (5.7Square kilometers), of which, 1.8square miles (4.7Square kilometers) of it is land and 0.4square miles (1.0Square kilometer) of it (20.09%) is water.
