Burleson is the hometown of Universal Motown's Forever the Sickest Kids' lead Singer Jonathan Cook. Also, the original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson. Robert B. Anderson, Secretary of the Treasury during Dwight Eisenhower's administration, was born in Burleson on June 4, 1910. The other stars who have lived in this entertainment breeding ground include, Cher, Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, Reba McIntire, Mandy Moore, and local area Texas country artist Phil Hamilton, and Casey Donahue. Burleson is a city spanning Johnson and Tarrant Counties in the U.S. state of Texas. It is considered a suburb of Fort Worth and is located in the rapidly growing suburban expanse just south of the city. As of 2009, the population was 34,350, having increased from the 20,976 residents officially counted during the 2000 census. Burleson is named for Rufus Columbus Burleson, a former President of Baylor University in Waco.
