Red Rock Spring flows year round and was used by both Apaches and settlers as a watering hole.
No motorized vehicles are allowed. If you PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT!! Carry an adequate supply of drinking water. One gallon per person per day is recommended during hot periods. Parking is limited at the Red Rock Trailhead. Portions of the trail are rough in places and should be traveled with caution. Do not drink untreated water. Giardia, a protozoan, is in many water impoundments and streams.
This is a good horse trail. The trail was built to move cattle from Buckhead Mesa to the Highline Trail and over the rim to summer range areas.
