Newbury Township is one of the sixteen townships of Geauga County, Ohio, United States. The 2010 census found 5,537 people in the township. As of the 2000 census, the center of population in Geauga County was located in northeastern Newbury Township, near Oak Tree Trail. At one time, the township boasted a thriving commercial shopping center, Teague Plaza, including a full-service grocery store called Three Sisters (formerly Prots Food Center). In 2009, however, the grocery went belly-up and since that time, the commercial district has declined and deteriorated, as many Newbury shoppers go to the WalMarts in Chardon or Middlefield instead.
