Canandaigua is a United States city that serves as the county seat of Ontario County, New York. The population was 10,545 at the 2010 census. The name Canandaigua is derived from the Seneca name spelled variously Kanandarque, Ganondagan, Ga-nun-da-gwa, or in a modern transcription, tganǫdæ:gwęh, which means "the chosen spot", or "at the chosen town".
