Black Rock is a census-designated place (CDP) in McKinley County, New Mexico, United States. The population was 1,252 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.8 square miles (4.7 km2), of which, 1.7 square miles (4.4 km2) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) of it (3.43%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,252 people, 319 households, and 283 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 740.1 people per square mile (286.0/km²). There were 349 housing units at an average density of 206.3 per square mile (79.7/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 89.70% Native American, 7.99% White, 0.24% from other races, 0.16% African American, 0.16% Asian, and 1.76% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.72% of the population.
