New Hartford is a town in Litchfield County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 6,088 at the 2000 census. The town center is also defined by the U.S. Census Bureau as a census-designated place (CDP). The town is mainly a rural community consisting of farms, homes, and parks. Brodie Park and Ski Sundown are located in New Hartford. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 38.1square miles (99km2), of which, 37.0square miles (96km2) of it is land and 1.1square miles (2.8km2) of it (2.91%) is water. The CDP has a total area of 3.5square miles (9.1km2) of which 5.80%is water.
