The Summit Lake sits high on a plateau above the Cameron Lake. From Cameron Lake, follow this trail around the lake veering to the left and crossing the bridge over Cameron Creek. After passing a series of moderate switchbacks upwards through spruce forest and with nice views below, this trail will eventually level off just about 1km from Summit Lake.
From here you can either turn left and proceed to the Alderson-Carthew Trail ending at Waterton townsite, or move through the Boundary trail which dips into Glacier National Park (USA), and then follows along the Waterton Lake shoreline to the townsite.
