The trail offers views of Cascade, the reservoir and the surrounding mountains to the east. From the trailhead, the first mile and a half of trail is blocked by fallen trees and crosses four Forest Service roads. From the trailhead, the Campbell Creek trail steeply ascends a ridge, then levels and enters a meadow, where Cascade and the reservoir can be seen to the east. About 1.5 miles from the trailhead, the trail reaches Stewards Meadow which offers a view of West Mountain Ridge.
From the meadow, the trail becomes steep and rocky, but continues to offer outstanding views. The last quarter mile of the trail parallels a small stream up a sharp incline and terminates at the top of the ridge at a unsigned junction with the Wilson Creek Trail. From the ridge, Raft Lake and Skein Lake can be seen to the south.
