Boone County is a county located in the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of 2000, the population was 25,535. Its county seat is Madison. Boone County was formed in 1847 from parts of Kanawha, Cabell, and Logan Counties and named for Daniel Boone, noted hunter and explorer, whose home was in the Great Kanawha Valley from 1789 to 1795.
