Aransas Pass is a city in Aransas, Nueces, and San Patricio counties in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 8,138 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 51.8 square miles (134.3 km²), of which, 10.7 square miles (27.8 km²) of it is land and 41.1 square miles (106.5 km²) of it (79.29%) is water.
The city is on the mainland of Texas and is connected to Mustang Island (which contains the city of Port Aransas) via a 6-mile (9.7 km)-long causeway, and a free ferry that carries vehicles to the island.
Aquatic Park. A new addition to Community Park, Aquatic Park features a competition sized swimmimg pool with 1 meter and 3 meter diving board. The lap pool is heated with a body slide attached to it. A kiddie pool, with depths from 1–3 feet, is there for the little ones. It features both a bucket drop and a canon slide. Lifeguards are always on duty. Men's and women's showers and dressing rooms are also available. Community Park. Community Park is located on Johnson Ave. at S. Arch St. Included at the park are lighted baseball fields, with dugouts, bleachers, electronic score boards, concession stand and public rest rooms. In the picnic area, there are 10 handicap accessible covered picnic tables.
Each table is equipped with a small barbecue pit. One larger covered area on a cement foundation is available for big groups. The playground features a merry-go-round, monkey bars, slides, rocking riding toys, a two story wooden play structure and digging toys. It is also handicap accessible. A paved walkway extends from the baseball field to an elevated gazeboo overlooking the wetlands of the Aransas Pass Nature Trail. From there handicap accessible walkways extend in two directions ending around areas for bird and wildlife watching.
Aransas Pass is within the Aransas Pass Independent School District. Schools that serve the city include H. T. Faulk Early Childhood School (Pre-K-1), Kieberger Elementary School (2-3), Charlie Marshall Elementary School (4-6), A. C. Blunt Middle School (7-8), and Aransas Pass High School (9-12).
