Emmaboda is a locality and the seat of Emmaboda Municipality, Kalmar County, Sweden with 4,824 inhabitants in 2010. Emmaboda is located in the middle of the Tri-City Region Växjö, Kalmar and Karlskrona. All three places are sixty kilometers from Emmaboda. Emmabodafestivalen is an indiepop festival annually held in Emmaboda. This attracts pop fans from all over Sweden. The author Vilhelm Moberg was born in Emmaboda municipality, more specifically, in Moshultamåla, 1898. Many of his novels are Emmaboda area. The actor Erik Hell was born in Emmaboda. Until 1875 Emmaboda was called Gantesbo. Then there were only two houses in Gantesbo, which both remain to this day. The houses are called Gantesbo A and Gantesbo B. One of the houses is located on Bökön located west of Emmaboda's sports ground. The second stands on a hill between Emmaboda parish and the Bjurbäck school.
