Son Bou Scuba is an expanding Dutch/German run dive centre, ideally situated on the south coast. Menorca offers some of the most stunning diving in the western Med, with 30 metres clear visibility in warm water. For cave and cavern divers it's a must to visit Cap d'En Font on Menorca's south coast. Here you will find no less than 7 caves and caverns, all within close range of each other. All dive staff on overhead environment dives are either cavern or full-cave trained. Other highlights are Pont d'En Gil cave (west coast), Swiss Cheese (north coast), the wreck of the Malakoff (south coast) and the Francesquita Wreck (nw-coast.) Son Bou Scuba has a permit to dive the only Marine Reserve on the island.
Also accomodation (self-catering apartments) and a hire car can be arranged with us. Please email or phone us for more info, we look forward to hearing from you.
Since April 2004, Muriel and Joop have been running Son Bou Scuba, located in Son Bou on Menorca’s South coast. During the season of 2003 they started working on Menorca and used this time to get to know the island and to find the best dive sites available.
You can find the dive centre in the ‘Centro Commercial San Jaime’ in Son Bou, only a short distance away from the beach. Please visit our Accommodation page to view a detailed map of Son Bou. Before coming to Menorca, Muriel and Joop worked for 8 years in the Maldives as scuba instructors and base leaders. Their experience, combined with high safety standards and organisational skills, will guarantee you a relaxed diving holiday. Whether you are a complete novice to scuba diving or an experienced technical diver, you will find our centre, facilities and staff to be the perfect choice for your diving activities.
At Son Bou Scuba the dive groups are kept small and experience levels are not mixed. This way, all divers get maximum enjoyment out of their dives. There is always an experienced ‘spare buddy’ at hand to accompany any single divers. Daily, we organize 2 guided dives by mini-bus or by boat to more than 45 exciting and unusual dive sites all around the island.
Diving & Dive Sites
More than 45 superb dive sites, strewn all over Menorca, are waiting to be discovered. Caves, caverns, vertical drop offs and coral encrusted reefs offer a wide variety of marine life. All viewed through 30 metres/ 100 feet of crystal clear visibility. Son Bou Scuba is one of the few dive centres that have special permission to dive the Marine Reserve on the North coast of Menorca, with an abundance of protected fish life.
Menorca’s dive sites have something to offer for every experience level, from ‘beginner’ to ‘very experienced’ (in case of diving some of the caves and deep wrecks). Although most of the caverns and caves on Menorca are not difficult to dive in, we understand that it’s not everybody’s cup-of-tea. Please do not enter any overhead environment when you do not feel comfortable to do so and let your dive guide know. The difference between “cave” and “cavern” is, when diving a cavern we can see the entrance (exit) at all times. Not so in a cave. In most caverns on Menorca it is possible to surface within, so you do not always need to be ‘very experienced’ to join us.
