Tatopani is a village in Sindhupalchok District in the Bagmati Zone of central Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 3102 and had 613 houses in the village. Majority people are of ethnic Sherpa and Tamang. Historically and today, it is a huge trading post between Nepal and China. People in Totopani speaks Nepali and Tibetan.
The famous hot springs of Nepal are located in Tatopani. The hot spring located in Beni Bazaar is at a distance of 390 kms from Kathmandu. It is said that around sixty thousand people from all over Nepal visit this hot spring. The hot spring can hold around hundred people at a time. This hot spring is located at a height of 9050 feet. It is believed that bathing in the hot springs cures many diseases of the skin and also paralysis. It is also considered as a holy dip for remaining healthy.
