Kundala Lake is an idyllic location in Munnar on the way to Top Station or Top Slip. Surrounded by rolling array of hills, valleys anddense forests, Kundala is known for the Kundla Arch Dam or Sethuparvati Dam alongside Kundala Lake. Situated at a distance of about 27 kms from Munnar Town at an elevation of 1700 meters above mean sea level, tourists often go right up to the top of Kundala Dam to have a panoramic view of the catchment area spread around.
Built in 1946 for Pallivasal Hydro Electric Project, Kundla Dam is considered as Asia’s first Arch Dam. Tourists can also take a ride in Kashmiri styled– Shikara boats here. Pedal boats are also available for visitors on rent. The Golf Course ground and Kundala Tea Plantations are also well known and located within the vicinity of Kundala Dam and Lake areas.
