Gohana is a sub-division/tehsil,a town and a municipal committee in Sonipat District
in the Indian state of Haryana
.It has an average elevation of 225 metres (738 feet).In ancient times, Gohana was known as Gavambhavana and was considered a sacred place. Prithviraj Chauhan had constructed a fort here. After defeating Prithviraj in 1192, Muhammad Ghori destroyed the fort.
There are muti-disciplinary colleges in Gohana, most prominent being the Govt. PG College, BPS Mahila University and Bhagwan Parshuram College of Engineering . There are many private B.Ed and D.Ed Colleges too in the town.BPS Mahila University has become famous for being the first of its kind only women university in India
