Dudhwa Tigerhino Resort is located on the Indo-Nepal Border in the district of Lakhimpur Kheri in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Hence is the only National Park in the State. DTR comprises of the Dudhwa National Park (680 sq km) and the Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary (204 sq km). Dudhwa National park was established in 1977 and Kishanpur sanctuary was established in 1972. Dudhwa has the highest number of “Barasingha”(Swamp deer) and also a growing population of Tigers of 106 (census 2005), the 2nd highest in India. Besides this Dudhwa is the only National Park,in India, to have a growing population of Rhino after Kaziranga National Park with a population of 30 Rhinos and is the only National Park to Have all the 5 species of the deer family.
It also has a high growth of Sal and Teak trees. All in all Dudhwa proves to be a wildlife enthusiast’s paradise and also provides an educative environment for children of today to learn about the various Animals, Birds, Flora and Fauna. Another attraction of the park is the Great Indian One Horned Rhino which had extincted in this part by middle of the 19th Century, was reintroduced in the Park in 1984-85 by the release of few of them in Kakraha Core Area. At Present Rhinos are living harmoniously in a small part of the park. It is because of the favorable habitat that breeding of Rhinos has also started.
The Park Re-opens on the 15th of November and is open till the 15th of June. The Park has various Rest Houses inside the park of the British period. It has basic non air conditioned rooms best for the wildlife enthusiasts.

For guests coming from Lucknow - Nearest Airport and Rail head (Broad gauge) is Lucknow (220kms). (Via--Lucknow-->Sitapur-->Lakhimpur Kheri-->Bijua-->Bhira-->Palia-->Dudhwa)
For guests coming from Delhi - Delhi-Shahjehanpur by train then by road to Dudhwa (107kms). (Via--Shahjehanpur-->Powayan-->Khutar-->Mailani-->Palia-->Dudhwa) You can catch a train from New delhi railway station at 2200 hrs and arrive at Shahjehanpur at 0500 hrs and then by road to Dudhwa 107kms(2hrs).
