Anjar is a town and a municipality in Kutch
district in the state of Gujarat

. The town was made capital of Kachchh on Vikram Sawant Magsar vad 2, 1602 (approx. 1545 CE) by Maharao Khengarji for the third time. Previously twice it was capital in Vikram Samvant 862. In Vikram Samvant 1061 by Kathis. With more than 1,400 years of history, Anjar is the oldest city in Kachchh.
