In an enclosed tropical garden, the life cycle of the butterfly is explored. Among hundreds of free-flying butterflies, guides interpret the butterfly’s natural history and their symbolic and meaning. Visitors are also shown the process of exporting chrysalises to butterfly houses worldwide and learn about the widespread attraction for these flying beauties.
The Butterfly Farm is opened Monday to Sunday (Including Holidays) from 8:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
he guided tour schedule is: 8:45 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. but the facilities are opened from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. then one can stay before or after the tour enjoying these flying jewels.
Private transportation is available Monday to Friday (not for the 1:00 p.m. tour) from most of the major hotels located between downtown San José, Escazú and Belen.Public transportation (bus or taxi to/from San Jose or Alajuela) is also an option!
