Two Days Tour of Royal History and River Cruise Sunset in Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh is the capital and largest city of Cambodia, it is named the heart of Cambodia. It is located on the bank of the Tonle Sap, Mekong and Bassac River, and it is also the home of 2 million of Cambodia’s population of over 14 million, especially it has many attraction places for national and international tourists visiting. The first day, the most important place where we will first begin to visit is Royal palace. Royal Palace is along Sothearos Blvd the high yellow crenellated wall and spired Chanchhaya Pavilion stand distinctively against the riverfront skyline. Inside the Palace grounds street sounds are silenced by the high walls and the royal buildings sit like ornate islands rising from the manicured gardens. After we know and see that the tour will continue to National Museum of Arts that is north of the palace grounds, the building was designed in Khmer-style, in 1920, by a French architect, and contains important artifacts and sculptures from the Angkor era and earlier. After visiting these both important places, we are going to have lunch and enjoy with the delicious food and drink. In the afternoon after lunch and have a rest the tour will continue to visit Wat Ounalom, it is reputedly the oldest Buddhist foundation in the city that on the riverfront Sothearos Blvd about 200m north of the Royal Palace. It is probably predating the abandonment of the capital at Angkor in the 15th century. After that we will go on to   Samdech Chhounnat Statue, Krom Nguy Statue those are near the riverside and then we are going to have a cruising boat in front Royal palace and take the beautiful there.

The second day in the morning, the tour will begin at Wat Phnom that is a small hill crowned by an active wat (pagoda) marks the legendary founding place of the Phnom Penh. As we arrive there, we can ride elephant and see monkeys on the trees especially we can understand the history of Phnom Penh. Next visit will go on to Independent Monument that was inaugurated in November 9, 1962, celebrating Cambodia’s independence from foreign rule. There, we can take beautiful picture and see many dragons on it. After this the tour will continue to Toul Sleng Genocide Museum. Before, Toul Sleng was a high school — a set of classroom buildings in a walled compound. When the Khmer Rouge came to power in 1975 they converted into the S-21 prison. It is very sad when we arrive there and see picture of victim. The prison kept extensive records, leaving thousands of photos of their victims, many of which are on display. After visit there we will go to have lunch and rest until afternoon we continue our visit to Cheoung Ek Memorial, the killing field that is 16 km southwest of Phnom Penh. Many of the Cambodian victims were transferred from Toul Sleng to kill there, the victims who perished under the Khmer Rouge regime ended up dumped in one of the dozens of ‘killing fields’ that can be found scattered across the country. After visit there, we will come back into the city and then we will go shopping at Russian Market that called Phsa Toul Tompoung. This market became the foreigner’s market during the 1980 when most of the foreigners in Cambodia were Russians, hence the name ‘Russian Market. We would buy souvenirs from there before go back, and the tour is going to have an end after a visit there. We wish you good luck in your trip back home.
