Full Day Cooking Class-Angkor Complex
Immerse yourself in the Khmer culture and learn how to cook some of the local delicacies before heading out to see some temples. Cook, eat and explore what this great country has to offer.
After meeting at the Angkor Village School the first stop is the fascinating Old Market. This labyrinth of tightly packed stalls selling everything under the sun is a real haven for foodies. Our chef guides you around explaining all about rice and the seasonal produce needed for the cookery class. Following the excitement of the market a welcome cold towel and refreshing tea awaits you at the cooking school. Enjoy a fantastic cookery demonstration before being let loose on the kitchen armed with a recipe booklet detailing the three dishes you will be making. As your nostrils fill with the aroma of fragrant curries and your stomach begins to rumble, lunchtime arrives and you can sit down to sample your fantastic work.
After lunch we visit Prasat Kravan, the unique brick tower temple containing an impressive wall sculpture of Vishnu and Laksmi. Next we see East Mebon, located on an islet in the centre of the Eastern Baray. Look out for the base of the temple which is guarded by stone figures of harnessed elephants. We continue on to Pre Rup, a majestic pyramidal temple with towers built in the 10th century. Finally we investigate the curious Neak Pean, a small temple located in the middle of a reservoir, reachable only by boat and encircled by two serpents.
