Tirol's history of copper and silver mining dates back to the Bronze Age and had its heydays in the 15th and 16th century.
The museum gives a good overview of this period starting with the geologic conditions in Tiro.
On display are:
- fossiles, minerals
- a section on early history, from the Stone Age to the Romans, 6000 years Brixlegg
- original findings such as mine trolleys, etc.
- scales, weights
The exhibition HIAS REBITSCH - A MOUNTAINEER'S LIFE shows data about this pioneer from Brixlegg and archiological artefacts from his many journeys to the Andes.
