The Parish Church was erected in late Gothic style in 1526. History records that in 1734 a substantial part of the building was destroyed by a fire.
Complete restoration works were carried out between 1870 and 1907. A new high altar and two new side altars in neo Gothic style were then installed. The fine high altar is a work of sculptor Josef Kepplinger he created from 1884 to 1890. The two side altars were made by Engelbert Weißreicher.
In 1981 the famous Austrian architect Dr. Clemens Holzmeister conceived a plan for the extension of the Church. The latest alterations and refurbishments date from the years 1982 and 1983. Among the Church´s most precious possessions is the new organ that was built by French Mark Garnier in 1985.
Other notable features in its interior include five elaborate statues of the Schwanthaler Family of Sculptors, the most precious of which is the Good Shepherd by Thomas Schwanthaler. The annex has six magnificent stained glass windows which were created by Professor Egbert Lammers in 1984 and show the Parable of the Lost Son.
