The Botanical Garden was built in 1911 and has ever since been used by the Institute of Botany of the Innsbruck University for teaching and research purposes. In the last 20 years the Garden was adapted to modern standards. Today it is home to more than 5000 different plants from all different kinds of habitats and climates from all over the World. Only an understanding of the delicate balance within the flora can help protect and preserve their natural habitats. In addition, the Botanical Garden is a well-liked outing destination in which to relax and discover great natural beauties. Also popular are the art exhibitions and special shows featured on a regular basis.

The Park and all outdoor areas are open year round and can be visited daily from 7.30am to 7pm (until 4.30pm in the winter time).
The Tropical Greenhouses are open Thursdays and 1st Sundays in the month 1pm to 4pm.
