The most spectacular viewing platform in the Alps
This huge construction protrudes like a hand 8 meters into the World Cultural Heritage Region, and has been built on top of a 400m high sheer rock face! Hence the name "Five Fingers". Each "finger" measures 4m by 1m and has its own special features. One finger is made of glass, on another you can take that perfect photograph of Hallstatt through a "barock picture frame". Another finger, which cannot be walked on, has been fitted with a trampoline. It symbolizes the freedom of the mountains. The fourth finger has a hole in its base through which you enjoy unobstructed views down to the valley. At the end of finger five is a telescope which can be used free of charge, bringing the mountains of the Salzkammergut ever closer!
A trail leading to the Pioneer Cross is accessible to most visitors. The cross can be reached in about 15 minutes.
