About
- Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Macarthur railway station is located in the Sydney suburb of Campbelltown. It is located on the Main South Line and is served by CityRail trains of the Airport and East Hills lines of the CityRail network. It is a terminus for electric trains. Diesel trains on the Southern Highlands line also stop here. The station is situated adjacent to Macarthur Square, which is the major shopping centre for the Macarthur region.
The station is equipped with ramps, connecting the concourse with the platforms. This provided disabled access, however since the ramps were built, the standards for ramps have been tightened, requiring a less steep slope to qualify for Easy Access for wheelchairs. As a result, lifts were installed during the station's refurbishment to restore easy access to the platforms. This station is serviced by two trains per hour each way, with additional trains during weekday peak hours. Currently, there are very few services in the morning that start from Macarthur and use the South Line route to the City Circle via Granville. Vice versa, there are only a few weekday services that start from the City Circle and use the via Granville route to Macarthur.
