Day 1: San José
Upon arrival at San Jose airport, you will be greeted by one of our local Travelous, English-speaking representatives who will be holding a sign with your name printed on it. Your representative will take you to your hotel where you will pick up your travel packet with vouchers and specific information regarding your travels.

Day 2: Manuel Antonio
Travel with your private driver to Manuel Antonio. The journey takes approximately two and a half hours but the vast hills and deep valleys will absorb your attention along the way.

Start your engines and let the adventure begin! Drive through the beautiful primary and secondary rainforest and alongside the Rio Canas on the only fully automatic ATVs in the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area.

Stop by two waterfalls for photo opportunities and a chance to cool off in the natural pools beneath the cascades. Each driver is equipped with a motor helmet, visor and a 330cc Polaris Trailblazer (for single riders) or a 350cc Yamaha Grizzly (for double riders), both models are fully automatic.

Day 3: Manuel Antonio
Enjoy the morning on a private-guided tour through Manuel Antonio National Park with one of our professional naturalist guides. This scenic park attracts over 160,000 people each year to its wide beaches with troops of monkeys that frequent the area. The park consists of mangrove swamps, primary rainforests and marshy woodlands and is bordered by the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. It is a haven for over 100 mammal species including the highly endangered squirrel monkey, or mono titi.

Day 4: Monteverde
After breakfast at the resort you will meet your driver for the five-hour drive to Monteverde with Crocodile Tour. We will stop for lunch on the way.

Day 5: Monteverde
Canopy Extremo is home to the longest and highest cables to be found in the area, offering panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the Nicoya Golf. The excursion will include the famous canopy zip lines, a Tarzan swing measuring 30 meters and reaching a height of about 50 meters, and 1 kilometer Superman cable at 180 meters above the forest.

Day 6: Arenal
After a delicious breakfast at your resort, you will travel to Arenal via El Taxi-Boat-Taxi service over the stunning Lake Arenal. The taxi-boat-taxi service is a one-way transfer between Monteverde and Arenal Volcano.

The two places are only about 136km apart but the shortest direct route by road is not possible because of the mountain ranges. By taking a motorized, covered boat ride across the Arenal Lake you can save time.The trip lasts 3 - 4 hours and provides door to door service for most hotels.

Informative tour guides will take you on a volcano trail through secondary rain forest and up to viewpoints to observe the volcanic activity. Along the way, you will learn about the volcano, the tropical forest surrounding it and the abundant wildlife, which you will see on your hike. Perhaps the most fascinating part of the tour is what you will learn about this captivating ecological paradise. From viewing monkeys and toucans to hearing the volcano rumble and watching bright red lava streak down the side, you will be fully engaged and enthralled as you enjoy your visit in the Arenal Volcano area.Your day ends at Tabacon Hot Springs where you can soak and relax in the hot pools at the base of the Arenal Volcano. Enjoy a mouth-watering dinner at Tabacon, a perfect culmination to a perfect day.

Day 7: Arenal
This is a full adrenaline water combo, sure to kick start your vacation! Your trip begins with a 30-minute 4x4 drive into the tropical rainforest outside the town of La Fortuna, in the shadow of the Arenal Volcano. From the first waterfall, you will rappel down from the top into the pristine canyon below. You will have 5 rappels, 4 of which are alongside or right in waterfalls, and one dry rock face on this action packed half day tour.

Day 8: Tortuguero
After breakfast, you will begin your journey to Tortuguero leaving Arenal by van stopping for a short break for a delicious lunch en route.

After lunch, you will depart your van transportation and continue by boat arriving in Tortuguero by late afternoon.

Day 9: Tortuguero
Today, you will have an adventurous boat ride in the Tortuguero National Park. This is a wonderful and interesting experience where you can see abundant flora and fauna along the jungle lined canals or Tortuguero. Return to the lodge for free time or for a relaxing siesta, enjoy the pool or go for a walk on the stunning grounds.

Enjoy a delicious dinner at the lodge and night at leisure to explore the incredible surroundings.

Day 10: Puerto Viejo
After lunch, you will leave Tortugero by boat and then head south along the Caribbean Coast to the vibrant fishing village of Puerto Viejo.

Located in Limon province on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca is a beach lover"s paradise. Here amidst the exotic flora and fauna, lies a vibrant seaside town with gorgeous beaches, crystal clear blue waters.

Stroll through the town and enjoy the reggae rhythms and coastal sounds resounding from the restaurants and bars lining the brightly lit streets. Travelous recommends that you try the delicious coconut bread found only in this region of Costa Rica.

Day 11: Puerto Viejo
The trek begins inside a former abandoned cocoa plantation. Little by little we start ascending into the secondary and primary forests, zones rich in natural and ecological treasures to study and share. Your guide will give you information about the community, its history, culture, and traditions. You will also learn about the achievements realized by the Wak ka koneke Association in the investigation of birds inside this community. Through the newly formed organization of Orok wak ka S.A., they intend to make every effort to create new self-sustaining alternative employment for the partners and neighbors of this community. The population of this area consists mostly of indigenous Bribri and Cabecar with their own clans and languages.

During the hike you will enjoy listening to birds, frogs and other animals while observing varieties of butterflies including the morphos and the heliconios. You will also learn how to identify many edible and medicinal plants and their properties. The maximum altitude of our trek is 220 meters above sea level. During the hike we will take short breaks along the way until we reach our destination platform where you can rest and enjoy the panoramic landscape. From this point you can see the Talamanca mountain chain, Panama, and the Sixaola valley, and the breaking waves up and down the coastline. Your guide will take you to a wonderful waterfall 27 meters height where you can enjoy a refreshing swim. From this point you will return to the road and our bus will take you back to your hotel in Puerto Viejo or Cahuita.

Day 12: San José
The Pacuare River is one of the best choices for your adventure treks in Costa Rica, offering a blend of wilderness and excitement in one day. Pacuare is world famous for its sheer beauty: it is flanked by steep, green walls where you will enjoy the feeling of total isolation from urban life. See waterfalls, tropical birds such us toucans and parrots, sloth, coatis, morpho butterflies and colorful frogs being common sights. It is not an overly challenging river, but it has plenty of rapids, providing a fun-filled adventure. The 18 mile one day run includes a total of 52 rapids.

We finish in Siquirres, where you can take a shower, change and enjoy the gardens and terrace while reflecting with new friends about the great adventure shared. Transfer the rest of the way to San Jose by land.

Day 13: San José
Unfortunately, we say goodbye to you today. A Travelous representative and private vehicle will transfer you to San Jose Airport and offer full assistance there. Keep the memories alive and hope to see you again in Costa Rica! Stay Travelous!
Reservations/Booking and Deposits: To book a Tour, each Traveler (or leader of a Group of Travelers) must submit:

A. A completed booking form signed electronically by the main Traveler. By submitting the booking form on the payments page, the traveler accepts our full Terms and Conditions.

B. A deposit of 30% of the Tour price (minimum $250 per person), is due immediately upon booking.

C. The full balance of the trip cost is due ninety days (90) before the trip departure date.

D. If you book your trip with us ninety days (90 days) or less before the departure date, the full cost of the trip is due at that time.

E. In the instance payment is made by certified check or wire transfer, reservations will only commence once the check is cleared.

F. Availability of Services and Accommodations cannot be guaranteed until a Tour is booked. We will exercise our best efforts to book the Services and Accommodations described in the Tour Itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of Tour date, we may be forced to offer substitutes. In this instance we will notify you as soon as possible and try to substitute comparable Services and Accommodations based on availability.

G. Ticketing & credit card processing for international transport and other select domestic airfare pertaining to a specific country is done by a 3rd party and not included in your total land package price unless otherwise stated.

H. Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $250 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, permits, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price minus a $250 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, permits, cruise or hotel deposits). 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.
