Piedmont is a city in Meade County, South Dakota, United States. Piedmont lies along Interstate 90 between Rapid City and Sturgis. Piedmont has been assigned. Piedmont is located part of an area referred to as the Red Valley, or Race Track, a rock layer in the Spearfish Formation which forms a valley circling the Black Hills. It is mostly red shale with beds of gypsum.
