The Snyder Ridge Trailhead begins at Sperry Trail along the Going to the Sun Road across from the Lake McDonald Lodge.

This trail then changes to the popular Gunsight Pass Trail after a short distance and is heavily used by hikers and horseback riders.  Considered to be a moderately difficult hike, after about a third of a mile the Snyder Ridge Trail arrives at a view point which overlooks the Snyder Creek and Lake McDonald. Then it winds up the Snyder Ridge and then switchbacks gradually into the canyon.
