This is an easily reached tributary of the Escalante. A small stream provides water for numerous cottonwood trees and a virtual garden of other water-loving plants. The canyon walls of the Lower Gulch are beautifully textured and colored. It is located ten and a half miles east of Boulder along the Burr Trail, which makes a steep decline into the Gulch. A marked parking area for the trailhead is located on the right side of the road.
