The discoverer of America. One of the most emblematic monuments in the town. The 52 metre high column was designed by Gaieta Buigas for the 1888 World Exhibition, and is crowned by a statue of Christopher Columbus, a work by Rafael Arche that stands 7 metres tall. A lift goes up the inside of the column to a viewpoint from which a magnificent Panoramic view of the city can be enjoyed. The statue points with its index finger towards America.
