The Los Villares Periurban Country Park was the first protected natural area of this kind to be set up in Andalusia. The site, formerly a Forestry Park of 60 hectares, was converted into a 484 hectare Periurban Country Park under the name "Los Villares Bajos" and a wide range of public facilities were installed. A set of bye-laws was created to protect the park and adapt it for public use with all the necessary recreational and educational facilities, as well as to encourage the local population to come into greater contact with nature.

FACILITIES:
-Camping Area: There are toilets and washrooms, and areas both for tents and caravans. There is a main building with reception area and bar. Open all the year - see recent information for prices.
 
-Visitors Centre: There is a reception hall, audiovisual room and nature interpretation room, where the different protected areas in the province are shown on explanatory interactive panels (this area is closed at present for renovation work)
 
-Signposted footpath: This short country walk of 2.2km is ideal for visitors, with information boards to guide you through a mixed forest of pine and oak interspersed with Mediterranean scrub.
 
-Recovery Centre for Endangered Species: To visit this centre, permission must be obtained in Advance from the Department of the Environment.
 
-Sports facilities: Football, indoor 5-a-side football, basketball and volleyball. Open permanently.
 
-Restaurant: Open Saturdays, Sundays and Feast Days.
 
-Recreation Area: The Recreation Area is equipped with toilets, open-air barbecues, tables and benches, sun umbrellas, covered barbecues, children's play area, tree hopping circuit and nature interpretation room.
