Pilanesberg International Airport

Pilanesberg International Airport is a public airport located in Pilanesberg, near Sun City in the North West Province of South Africa. Home for the World famous Pilanesberg Game Reserve and the Sun City entertainment complex, this region is naturally a beautiful habitat and a very important platform of the North West Parks and the Tourism Board, administrators of tourism related activity in this region The Park area is fringed by three concentric ridges known as the Pilanesberg Alkaline Ring Complex, a vast circular ancient geographical feature which in fact is the crater of a long extinct volcano, and the result of eruptions that took place over 1200 million years ago.

Sun City is a globally renowned luxury casino resort bordering the Pilanesberg Game Reserve along with many other lodges that located inside the Park accommodating scores of tourists which pour in for adventure and pleasure throughout the year. The Pilanesberg International Airport which is also an international port of entry is effectively serving the requirements of this region and providing daily scheduled flights to and from Johannesburg apart from many regular unscheduled chartered flights it caters to every now and then.

Situated at an elevation of 3,412 feet above mean sea level, this airport is owned and operated by the Airports Company South Africa. There is a small terminal at this small airport together with basic passenger convenience facilities serving visitor needs.  Equipped with a 9,022 feet asphalt surfaced runway enabling flight movements, private metered taxis, car rentals and hotel shuttle services are also available at the Pilanesberg International Airport for local transportation requirements of the air-travelers.
