Stol Mountain

Stol Mountain is highest part (1155 m) of the mountainous region Goli Krš, which is placed between Veliki Krš and Deli Jovan. Stol is one of the most beautiful vantage points in this part of Serbia. It is located 10 km south-east from Bor, and is connected with Bor by local road which branches off from the direction of Bor – Bela Reka - Tanda, or via Bor - Krivelj - Gornjane.

Mass of the Stol Mountain, built of thick layers of limestone, belongs to the famous cover system in eastern Serbia. Stol is separated by faults so it can be considered as a horst exaltation with falling strata to the southwest up to 40 º, which represents a challenge for alpine conquests. On the terrain surface noticeable are karst forms of relief, with absence of any hydrographic forms. They can be found at the foot of the mountain, presented as strong springs and lake formations.

The terrain is very attractive in spring when everything becomes green, while in the autumn everything is flamboyantly colorful. In summer, visitors can enjoy the peace of the mountain hut under Stol. In winter, silence reigns here in endless white and pure snow.
