The Queen Bona Route

Beautiful landscape, interesting natural values, open and hospitable people – that is what the route has on offer for a tenacious hiker. The route runs in the vicinity of the Krzemianka Nature Reserve, passes through the Budzisk and Międzyrzecze Nature Reserves to finally reach the Arboretum in Kopna Góra. The “Queen Bona” Route is marked blue and links Tykocin and Knyszyn, two towns historically connected with King Sigismund August and his mother Queen Bona. It leads through the westernmost parts of The Knyszyńska Primaeval Forest Landscape Park and lets you do some sightseeing in Knyszyn. The route passes through picturesque villages e.g. Czarna Wieś Kościelna famous for its folk craftsmen i.e. the blacksmith and the potters. For most of its distance the route goes on a track; there is a shelter at the Kopisk forester’s lodge. Road access to the route is limited. It is divided into 4 stages which you can appreciate altogether or by stages: Buksztel (Czarna Białostocka) – Czarna Wieś Kościelna – 4km; Czarna Wieś Kościelna – the Białystok-Augustów road – 8km; the Białystok-Augustów road – Kopisk – 4km; Kopisk – Knyszyn – 9km.
