According to tradition, the church existed already in the 17th c. Its ancient origins may be proved by the inscription “1733” visible on the lintel, relating to the re-consecration of the church. It can be assumed that the church was only restructured in 1733 (the walls’ framework was raised and the interior was enlightened by new larger windows). Initially, the nave was shorter, on square layout. The church owes its present-day appearance to a renovation from the 19th c (the nave was lengthened; a dome on a high tambour was erected). Nearby the church, we find an 18th c wooden bell tower.
