Archeologists from Lublin made Masłomęcz famous. The greatest Gothic graveyards (as far as the number of people were buried) in Europe were discoverded in Masłomęcz. More than 500 graves and the tracks of Gotów settlement from 1th-4th century B.C. were found here. The Gothic people probably come from the mythical island Skanza (Swedish coast). Conducted for 25 years archeological research, leading by professor Andrzej Kokowski, led to sensational discovery concerning Gothic inhabitants. In Masłomęcz one can also visit reconstructed Gothic cottage. Also archeological picnics taking place here, where one can learn about the mysterious and fascinating Gothic World, are worth visiting.
