Castle of Krapkowice

Krapkowice invite to visit beautiful late-renaissance castle. The castle in Krapkowice is late-renaissance building, its history isn't clear but has some reflection in legends. It is difficult to establish its origins. It would be appopriate to claim that it came into being in medieval ages. The legend says that it was built by the templars. It is also not known what was its function. The town raised in the premises of dukes of Opole. Although the castle was just outside the town. The history of the castle see med to be turbulent , there is even a story, in a book titled "Osobliwości szlachty śląskiej" by J.Sinapius, of "a white lady" appearing in the castle. Now, there is a school ("Zespół Szkół Zawodowych im. Piastów Opolskich"). The castle is a huge building in a shape of quadrilateral that surrounds quadrangle. There is one entry to the quadrangle and it goes through tunnel that crosses the castle's wall. There are 2 baroque sconces in shape of angels that left after old interior and are located above stone stairs leading to former ballroom, there are several tail stokes richly decorated and beautiful oak panelling with dresser rooms in dining room. On the yard there is a monumental well that was probably built when the castle was raising. Depth of the well is 30-40 meters from awater surface, walls of it were made of stone.
