Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm

Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm covers an area of about twenty thousand hectares of scenic land. The thirty seven hectare of farm is covered with palm trees, rice and crops cultivated by inmates and their families. This rehabilitation center for inmates is more like a farm than a prison. The magnificent Iwag Penel Colony was established in 1900 for serving the sentences.

The farm has eventually become a tourist spot. It has two souvenir shops where visitors can find some really amazing handmade products by inmates. Key chains are the most popular souvenirs of the shop created from the recycled plastic from Jollibee cups by the inmatess.
